'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even the mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there. The kids were nestled in their beds While visions of sugarplums danced within Their heads were filled with excitement They dreamed of all the toys they might find. When the sun began to set outside And the fireplace crackled bright, I knew it was time for bed. But one thing remained on my mind, A question that I must ask. "What did you get under the tree?" "None," said the kids, "not a single gift." But what if Santa Claus had brought them something extra? Perhaps a toy gun or a magic wand, just for me? I thought about this for a long while Then suddenly, I heard a knock at the door. It was St. Nicholas! With a big smile on his face he said, "I have brought you a very special gift, dear child. It's not any toy or gadget For I've put some of your wishes in a list. Now go ahead and open it up, my dear child. I'll show you what's inside." And as he opened the box, my heart leapt with joy At the toys inside! My children ran around playing, laughing and shouting "Merry Christmas, St. Nicholas!"
